Robe-Off; A Sketch for a One
Person Performance, 2019

A project in collaboration with Molly Cranston

In a series of real events exploring and reimagining how we might interact with the bathroom space, we invited people to perform a private ritual, drying themselves after a shower, in a public space: the public bathroom. From this, we made ‘Robe Off: A sketch for a One-person performance’, a subjective script where drying off may be understood as a theatrical performance. The performer’s actions are marked directly onto the manuscript in the blank space provided as a means of reconsidering and documenting their private ritual. Whoever reads the manuscript may, in turn, become the performer and is invited to consider their private actions within a public sphere.
